DIG STEP — Skills, Training, Empowerment, Pathways
DIG STEP (Skills, Training, Empowerment, Pathways)—a youth development initiative by DIG LIFE (Dreamz Into Goals Learning Inspired for Evolution)—equips underserved middle and high school students with digital literacy, health awareness, financial education, and career readiness tools. Launching Fall 2025, the program features monthly hands-on workshops, mentorship, and laptop scholarships, culminating in a graduation ceremony and summer accelerator session. Limited to 20 participants, DIG STEP fosters personal growth, community service, and professional pathways through experiential learning and real-world application. Students who complete the program earn certificates, scholarships, and technology resources to support their next steps—from vision to vocation, creating measurable impact throughout Long Beach.
Nationwide Laptop & Giveaway Program
DIG LIFE’s Laptop Giveaway is a program aimed at providing laptops & hotspots to urban youth. The goal is to provide access to technology and bridge the digital divide for disadvantaged students who may not have access to a laptop or wifi at home. The program is run by DIG LIFE organization and often relies on donations and grants to fund the laptops. The laptops are distributed to eligible students based on need, academic merit, or a combination of factors. The goal is to help level the playing field and provide students with the tools they need to succeed in their education. Since 2021 over a dozens laptops were awarded and six (6) laptops were awarded to students all over the country and we aim to expand this endeavor each year.
DIG LIFE's Youth Resource Guide
The Fund Ur Dreamz Mentorship Program is a cornerstone of our commitment to student success. This program connects students with professionals from a variety of fields who are dedicated to inspiring and guiding the next generation. Professionals involved in Fund Ur Dreamz are not only willing to mentor students directly but also to share their journeys, giving students a vision of what’s possible in their own futures.
Through workshops, students will gain practical skills and insights into different careers while building a network of connections that can open doors to opportunities.
Nationwide Bigg Sixx Scholarship Program
Welcome to the Bigg Sixx Scholarship Program, inspired by the vibrant legacy of Damien “Big Six” Lewis. This initiative honors Damien’s life and dreams by supporting high school students eager to pursue higher education or trade careers. Each year, we award scholarships to deserving students who demonstrate academic merit, financial need, and a strong commitment to their community and personal growth. Initiated in memory of Damien, a gifted barber whose kindness touched many, the program aims to empower young minds to achieve their dreams just as he did. Join us in nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators by supporting the Bigg Sixx Scholarship Program. Together, we can transform potential into success.

Annual Back 2 School Backpack & Bike Meet up
The Back 2 School Backpack & Bike Meet Up is part of DIG LIFE’s Violence and Prevention Event Series, designed to create safer, more connected communities by empowering youth and families through access, education, and support. Each year, this vibrant community event provides students with essential school supplies, new bikes, clothes, and fresh haircuts—ensuring they start the school year with confidence and stability. Alongside the giveaways, families connect with vital resources including tutoring programs, health screenings, mentorship opportunities, and local service partners who care deeply about their success. More than just a back-to-school drive, this event builds trust, encourages positive choices, and reinforces DIG LIFE’s commitment to helping young people thrive from Kinder to Career.
Annual Skate Turn Up & Shoe Giveaway
The Skate Turn Up & Shoe Giveaway is DIG LIFE’s signature youth violence prevention event — a vibrant day where culture, community, and care collide. Designed to create safe spaces for youth and families, the Skate Turn Up connects participants with free shoes, skateboards, haircuts, nail services, wellness resources, mentorship opportunities, and educational support, all while promoting unity and peace. By replacing barriers with bridges, this event transforms what could be a moment of risk into a moment of growth. Every interaction — from a young skater meeting a mentor to a parent connecting with a health navigator — builds trust, strengthens relationships, and reinforces our mission to prevent violence through engagement, empowerment, and access. At DIG LIFE, prevention starts with participation — and the Skate Turn Up keeps our city rolling forward, together.
Legacy & Unity Celebration & Juneteeth Field Trip
The Legacy & Unity Black History Celebration and Juneteenth Field Trip to Allensworth State Park honor African American history and culture through education and community engagement. Legacy & Unity celebrates achievements with live performances, cultural exhibits, and Black-owned vendors in Downtown Long Beach, fostering unity and collaboration. The Juneteenth Field Trip explores the legacy of Colonel Allen Allensworth and his pioneering Black community, offering a meaningful way to reflect on resilience and progress. Together, these programs inspire, educate, and celebrate Black heritage.
DIG LIFE Youth Golf Clinic
At DIG LIFE, our Youth Golf Clinic isn’t just about learning to hit a golf ball—it’s about empowering urban youth with valuable life skills through the sport of golf. Aimed at boys and girls aged 6-15, this clinic offers a structured 3-part experience that focuses on both mental and physical development. Participants engage in activities that enhance concentration, discipline, and patience—key components in both golf and everyday life. Physically, golf promotes coordination, balance, and fitness, crucial for young growing bodies. Our program ensures each participant leaves with not only enhanced golf skills but also with experiences that contribute to personal growth and self-confidence. Join us as we guide the next generation towards success on and off the green.
What we Have Done
Engagement by The Numbers
Since our inception in April 2021, over $150K worth of support has been provided to students and scholars. This value is achieved through generous contributions and our efforts to collaborate with local organizations. Efforts to increase this value continue through active engagement with community organizations and funding sources.
The Home Work Assistance program opened its doors to students in 2021 and in its 2nd, year has doubled its numbers with over 100 students serviced. 100% virtual, the sessions are held weekly with tutors providing homework help and mentorship. Strong connections and lasting impact is gained on both sides of this relationship.

DIG LIFE understands that a bicycle is more than just a gift; it’s a symbol of freedom and opportunity. For many students, having a bike means more than just leisurely rides; it ensures they have a reliable means of transportation to and from school. By providing free bikes through a raffle at their event, DIG LIFE is not only granting students the joy of exploration and adventure but also ensuring they have a dependable mode of transit for their educational journey.
