Engagement Programs
Tutoring Free Program
DIG Life Tutoring Program is a free zoom homework help program entirely online. We service the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) and continue to show a demand greater than we are able to service every year. 2021 marked the 1st year of the tutoring program and over 160 students in grades kinder to 12th grade expressed a need and applied. We serviced a total of 160 students. In 2022 the number of students applying doubled and 100 percent of 2021 participants were enrolled.
Our tutors are generous volunteers that donate their time to assist our students and create strong lasting connections. This introduced the DIG Mentorship Program.
Nationwide Laptop Giveaway Program
DIG LIFE’s Laptop Giveaway is a program aimed at providing laptops to urban youth. The goal is to provide access to technology and bridge the digital divide for disadvantaged students who may not have access to a laptop at home. The program is run by DIG LIFE organization and often relies on donations and grants to fund the laptops. The laptops are distributed to eligible students based on need, academic merit, or a combination of factors. The goal is to help level the playing field and provide students with the tools they need to succeed in their education. In 2022 over dozen over a dozen laptops were awarded and six (6) laptops were awarded to students all over the country and we aim to expand this endeavor each year.
Intergenerational Mentorship Program
DIG Mentorship Program identifies students’ individual academic goals or skills and interests and connects them with established professionals and generous volunteers to facilitate growth and development towards achieving their goals. A side benefit of the DIG Life Tutoring Program was the strong connections and mentor and mentee roles that developed that showcased its benefits. In addition we encourage our scholar’s parents/guardians to join for continued education.
Nationwide Bigg Sixx Scholarship Program
Students supported succeed, so our 2022 DIG BIG Sixx Scholarship Program applauds the hard work of six (6) high school students enrolled in college and awards $600 scholarships so they can turn their dreamz into goals. In 2023 our goal is to give out 12 Scholarships total with 6 going to college bound students and 6 scholars pursuing a trade.

Engagement Events
Back 2 School Backpack Bike Meet up
The Back-to-School Bike & Backpack Meet Up Event is where students receive a backpack filled with school supplies and it’s a party! Students with bikes receive free bike accessories and free bike repair. This event is held with the hopes of providing our scholars with a way to and from there schools as well as providing the necessary items conducive to learning.
To celebrate we invite the whole family to the park. We got free music, free food, free school gear, and that’s not all. We provide free hair cuts, face painting and art activities to keep it fun and purposeful.
Skate Turn Up & Shoe Giveaway
About a month after our BackPack and Bike Meet up, the LBC Skateboard & Shoe Turn Up Event is held to provide free haircuts, new shoes, Clothing and skateboards. It is our belief if you feel good about yourself you are able to learn without distractions
Always a family event, this is a day at the skatepark with free music, art activity and a chance to sign students up for tutoring or mentorship for the remainder of the school year.
Black History Month Field Trip
February is the Black History Month Road Trip for all aged students to join us on a free road trip to Allen Allensworth State Park named after an African American Pioneer for a day of history and culture. We provide free music, free snacks, a free meal but more importantly, an opportunity to take in the rich black history available and have fun!
Pass The Batton - 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney
3 on 3 Basketball Tourney event, which will take place in early September.. This event will not only provide a fun and competitive atmosphere for participants and their families, but it will also raise funds to help our mission to provide education and support for underprivileged and underserved youth from kinder to career. This involves programs and initiatives aimed at improving early childhood education, supporting K-12 students, and providing resources and opportunities for higher education and career development.
What we Have Done
Engagement by The Numbers
Since our inception in April 2021, over $89K worth of support has been provided to students and scholars. This value is achieved through generous contributions and our efforts to collaborate with local organizations. Efforts to increase this value continue through active engagement with community organizations and funding sources.
The tutoring program opened its doors to students in 2021 and in its 2nd, year has doubled its numbers with over 100 students serviced. 100% virtual, the sessions are held weekly with tutors providing homework help and mentorship. Strong connections and lasting impact is gained on both sides of this relationship.
he BIGG SIXX Scholarship applauds the hard work of Twelve (12) high school students enrolled in college and or trade school. 12 $600 books and supplies scholarships so they can turn their dreams into goals.
