🌟 Legacy & Unity: A Celebration of Culture, History, and Community 🌟

This past Saturday February 8th 2025, The Promenade in Downtown Long Beach came alive with music, art, and a powerful sense of unity as we hosted the Legacy & Unity Black History Celebration! πŸŽ‰

The day was filled with meaningful moments that honored African American history, celebrated cultural collaborations, and highlighted the resilience and contributions of diverse communities.

Event Highlights:

🎢 Incredible Performances:
The crowd was energized by the Black Fist Brass Band’s second line performance, engaging drum circles by EarthLodge, and unforgettable music from talented artists Ventage, Sellassie, and Dray Arcane. Each performance brought unique energy and creativity, reminding us of the cultural richness that unites us.

🍴 Delicious Food:
Attendees enjoyed amazing meals from The Cultured Soul Food Truck, bringing together flavors that reflected both tradition and innovation.

πŸ“š Education & Resources:
Our community resource area provided health screenings, educational materials, and a chance to learn about the collaborative history of African Americans with other nationalities, including Native Americans, Irish, Chinese, Mexican, Jewish, Filipino, and more.

🎀 Inspiring Leaders:
We were honored by the presence of Mayor Rex Richardson, Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, and representatives from the April Parker Foundation and Long Beach Sister City Mombasa, whose support made this event even more impactful. Their words and participation underscored the importance of unity and collaboration.

A Day to Remember:

Together, we celebrated legacies like those of Ernest and Lillian McBride, learned from the stories of communities like Black Wall Street and Allensworth, and honored international icons such as Jomo Kenyatta and Nelson Mandela.

This event brought together people of all backgrounds to share in the joy of history, community, and culture. It’s a reminder that when we come together, we can create something truly beautiful.

✨ Thank You to Our Partners and Supporters!
A heartfelt thank you to the April Parker Foundation, Councilwoman Mary Zendejas, Long Beach Sister City Mombasa, and all of our incredible performers, vendors, volunteers, and attendees.
